Wembley Golf has announced that club bookings will be made available from Monday 11 May. It also said that because the WA government has relaxed social distancing restrictions somewhat to allow up to 10 people per gathering, it is now allowing groups of 4 players in each tee time, and that greens renovations will begin on the Tuart course from Tuesday 28th April 2020.
Social gatherings are strictly limited to 10 people which the WGC staff will be monitoring to ensure social distancing is adhered to. Motorised carts will also remain as one person and one bag per cart. As social golf club bookings will be inserted from Sunday 10th May 2020, we have been asked to resubmit our fixtures, so hopefully these will be in place by Monday 11 May. However, Wembley Golf has also said that, in future, all social golf clubs must have exact player numbers confirmed 7 days prior to the booking to avoid further charges.
Assuming our bookings for Monday 11 May (stableford on Tuart) and Friday 15 May (par plus on Tuart) are reinstated, we need to be ready to supply playing numbers by next Monday 4 May. Once we start playing again as a club, we will work on the basis that players on a Monday will tick off a sheet to tell me if they will be playing the following Monday and I will advise the pro-shop after we have played, ditto for Friday, with members unable to play on the day having the responsibility of notifying me by email on the Sunday before if they plan to play on Monday-week (read Thursday for Friday fixtures). However, until we are allowed to sit down at Wembley after golf to record results etc, we shall have to adopt a week-by-week email advice system.
Accordingly, members must advise the secretary if you intend to play on either or both Monday 11 May or Friday 15 May. Be warned that you will be responsible for reimbursing the club if we have to pay green fees for no-shows, and equally we will only have the requested number of starting slots so if you don’t advise me, you will not be able to play. Doug McCauley has offered to act as an emergency player for members who find themselves unable to play when they have booked in, but it will be your responsibility to find a replacement player if that happens and Doug is unavailable. Hopefully, booking arrangements will settle back to the old arrangements after a period of hiatus, but in the meantime, we will have to follow the new rules!
