Annual Club Championship

(as revised for 2023 competition)
The Club Championship will be held late Oct:–

 There are three competitions.

  1. The Keith Minkey Club Open Champion, which is the player with the lowest combined stroke score over the two days.
  2. The Club B Grade Champion which comes from players with a handicap of 19 and over with the lowest combined stroke score over the two days.
  3. The Club Handicap Champion which is the player with the lowest net score over the two days

A player cannot win more than one trophy. Handicaps (as determined prior to the event) are unchanged over the two days of the event. Starting groups will be organised for day one in ascending order of handicaps, and for day 2, the order will be as finished for day 1, with better stroke scores last.

In the event of a tie in the OPEN and B Grade Champion competitions the winner will be decided in an 18 hole play-off on either of the next two playing dates, and any player not presenting himself on the day set by the Match Committee will forfeit the play-off.  In the event of a tie after 54 holes in the Open and B Grade competitions or after 36 holes in the Club Handicap Champion competition, the Match Committee will assess the winner on the count-back system.

Countback to be decided on basis of last 18, last 9, last 6, last 3 ,last hole

To be eligible to win Club Championships players would need to be:

  • Fully paid up members of the club.
  • Must have played ten games with the club in the 12 months before the date of the competition; OR
  • At the Club Captain’s discretion on a case by case basis.

Members should familiarise themselves with the Rules of Golf and Club local rules to enable them to resolve questions of penalties or procedures of play that may arise in the course of a round.   A sincere attempt to resolve such matters should be made by members of the group at the time of play.   If, however, a playing group cannot resolve a problem, the matter shall be referred to the Match Committee.   Once the Match Committee is involved, their decision is final.

Players are reminded that gimmees are not allowed in the championships

For those players unable to play both days or ineligible to play in the championships, they can still be involved in the daily competition.
