Competitions

The club holds a competition for members and guests on Mondays and Fridays with a week’s break over Christmas/New Year  -public holidays excepted (the following Tuesday is a competition day  when a public holiday falls on a Monday).  Refer fixture list/playing schedule:

Competition results are published on this site in news posts.  The club plays by the Rules of Golf with some explanation and local rules set out on the attached page.  Trophy winners  and Holes-in-One are shown on the Honour Board

For Trophy Competitions, qualifications for entry are as follows:

  • As with all club competitions, players need to be fully paid-up members of the club,
  • Players must have played a minimum of 10 playing dates with the WCGC in the previous 12 months.

    The Fred Sorensen Trophy is an ambrose competition played in November annually.
  4. Jock Oehlers Match Play Competition
  5. The Ray Dale Perpetual Trophy (Pairs)
  6. Gerry Gillett Perpetual Trophy
    The Gerry Gillett Perpetual Trophy is a 4-club Stableford competition played in December.  Gerry is a long term member of the club renowned for playing to his age, a feat he has repeated into his nineties.  For all regular WCGC competitions (other than ambrose), members’ scores are entered into Golflink so as to effect changes to handicaps when required under Golfconnect rules.  However, for the Gerry Gillett competition, only personal par or better scores will be recorded in Golfconnect. Other scores are not entered.

In addition to the above trophy events, there is a special event as follows:

Westside Annual Competition
WCGC combines with Westside Golf Club for an annual charity event in April. The event is a Stableford competition organized by WCGC on alternate years.  The clubs compete with the winning team being the one with the highest average Stableford score.
