Cecil McPhee Trophy 2019

Richard Russell being congratulated by President Doug McCauley after winning the Cecil McPhee Trophy on 2 August 2019. Cecil McPhee was a founder member of the West Coast Golf Club in 1973 and played well into his nineties and passed away at the grand old age of 101.  He was awarded the French Legion of Honor shortly before his death and to commemorate his life and achievements we play a medal stableford competition each year. Players play off scratch, and are awarded 2 points for a par, 3 for a birdie, 1 for a bogey etc, and the players handicap is then added (or deducted if negative) to his handicap.  Richard’s score was 24 points, plus handicap of 14 gave him 38 points, to beat Rick Lazar with 35 points for the trophy.  He also scored the best gross for the day – 82, and the best nine with 13 points.
