Country club competitions:
Manjimup Doug Edwards Memorial incorporating the 78th Birthday Cup To be held on Sunday the 6th July 2025 this year being the men’s open day competition with a separate competition for the ladies so they are able to participate in this event.  The format is 18 holes individual Stableford with registration from 10am and a sausage sizzle followed by a shot gun start at 11am. The entry fee is $30 per player. Thanks to the sponsors of this event, the Edwards family, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Adam Davey Consulting and Naturaliste Turf.  Visitors can nominate via MiTournament, phone, text or email and pay on the day. Visitors are welcome to play on Saturday as well. Flyer

Congratulations to captain Tom McClain who won his own trophy for the second time.  After a misty start to a cool but pleasant winter’s day, Tom was never headed – 4 pars and no double bogeys on the first nine, then same again with 6 pars on the back nine – gross 78, net 67 and equal best nine of net 33.  Stephen Thomas came a close second with gross 76, net 68 with 11 pars and a birdie but one double bogey.  His best nine was also 33 on the back, winning that on count-back.  David Hayes presented Tom with the trophy:

Congratulations to captain Tom McClain for winning the June monthly medal with a best gross of 85 (net 73), winning a bottle of white wine donated by Richard Russell.  The course was in beautiful condition and we had perfect autumn weather with little wind, so it must have been the chilly start that led many of us to score 50 or more on the first nine when we would have expected to score less than that.  Tom’s 42 gross for the first nine was outstanding considering the remaining scores.

Today’s competition was abandoned after very heavy showers with hail and thunder between holes 4 and 8 flooded the greens and rendered further play just about impossible. 5 players completed 9 holes and 3 went on to play a further adhoc back 9 in drying conditions.
